【MBAChina網(wǎng)訊】2018年3月12日，來自11個國家的48位同學開始了在人大商學院舉辦的主題為From “Made in China” to “Invented in China”的國際游學之行。一周時間內(nèi)，同學們通過“學”和“行”等一系列活動，有了新的體驗和感悟，收獲頗豐。

如果用一個詞來總結(jié)這一周的時光，不過充實兩個字——聽課，交流，企業(yè)參訪，presentation。短短五天與各聯(lián)盟院校學生的相處，是大家人生中非常有價值的一段回憶。

 

作為本次活動的東道主，帶隊老師、人大商學院企業(yè)管理系教師Majid Ghorbani 向?qū)W員介紹了中國企業(yè)的現(xiàn)狀。中國獨特的文化和經(jīng)濟的飛速發(fā)展，使各國學生對接下來的行程充滿期待。

 

京東企業(yè)參訪中的三維影像技術使學員了解了京東發(fā)展歷程，先進的快遞機器人、無人飛機打破了傳統(tǒng)送件方式。

 

活動中，學員間文化和背景的差異似乎不復存在。課余時間學員們一起討論準備小組總結(jié)，一起游覽故宮走近中國文化，一起品嘗京城美食。就像一位同學所說：“分享讓我們覺得我們是一家人”。

當越來越多的學員表達出“I love Beijing”時，游學周活動卻到了落幕的時刻。對于此次參加游學周的48名學員來說，在這五天的時光中，身體和心靈一直在路上，大家從內(nèi)部突破自己，邊走邊學邊分享，也許這就是游學周真正的意義所在。

Enriching Experiences

“Enriching” is the best word to summarize Global Network Week 2018 at Renmin --- a mixture of lectures, social events, networking, company visits, and presentations.

Although it might not sound special, I believe that it is an unforgettable journey in my life.

The first thing we did on the first day is an ice breaking activity. More than forty classmates from 11 countries were divided into six small teams, and we started our topic discussions. Professor Ghorbani introduced the present situation of China and the rapid economic development of China's unique culture, making everyone full of expectations for the week.

During the program, we visited JD where the high-tech 3D tunnel helped us understand the history of JD and its businesses. JD, as the representative of the enterprises in the field of electronic trade in China, has become the leader of the global e-commerce field. Furthermore, their advanced robots and unmanned aircrafts broke the traditional delivery methods. This experience particularly stood out for me personally.

 

I was able to gain a double dose of knowledge and friendship, making this week quite valuable. I will cherish these memories and friendships forever.

 

An Unforgettable Program

To begin with, I would like to thank the Business School, Renmin University of China for providing us with such a good opportunity to study and communicate with different universities’ students from all over the world.

The topic of this year’s Global Network Week is From “Made in China” to “Invented in China”, five days of wonderful lectures not only give us more insight into our great country, but it also allows us to better understand China with a new perspective.

It is worth mentioning the well-known enterprises we visited during the program, such as JD and Baidu. These excellent Chinese corporations are well known for their success around the world, increasing our national pride and allowing us to really experience the development of technology and innovation in China.

Finally, what impressed me the most is our interaction with students from all over the world. From the beginning I was worried that my English would be a hinder to communicate fluently with everyone, however, we learned from each other in the process. Parting of sadness still remains vivid in my mind. From now on, we will no longer feel strange when we reach their country, because we know someone will be waiting.

I took this five-day Global Network Week at Renmin with 48 students from other top business schools within our Global Network for Advanced Management, such as Yale SOM, Sauder UBC, INCAE, Technion, Hitotsubashi ICS, etc., without really knowing what to expect. However, it has been an amazing experience for me.

We participated in lectures and company visits about from “Made in China” to “Invented in China” altogether. The foreign students studied hard and questioned a lot about the varied themes. We discussed and exchanged our ideas, and I found that the western students like to express themselves but we eastern prefer to listen. They also like to have parties after classes. Their criteria is study hard, then play hard. And in the meantime, through various lectures and company visits, my vision has been expanded and enriched. My way of thinking also has been inspired.

Since I am a local student at Renmin, I've only taken courses in Chinese before. This was the first time taking English lectures. The teachers were all educated abroad and some of them worked in the foreign universities. They knew the differences between western and eastern countries clearly. They gave us new perspectives, taught us how to learn and think differently, opening our traditional thought-process.

It's been great to experience such a culturally diverse group of students without having to leave Beijing or Renmin.

During this year's GNW, the most impressive part to me is when one professor shared an idea about how China will change the world.

Presently, China’s population accounts for almost 20% of the world's population. If we change ourselves, we’ve already changed the world. From my perspective, his words demonstrated not only a statement of our diplomatic policy, but also a power of Chinese culture on how to build and evaluate relationships with the world. Needless to say, in the business area, relationship should be one of the essential factors in making effective connections, obtaining valuable feedbacks, and reaching a destination of trust. At the same time, as a MBA student, it is much more important to know how to build good relationships.

As the host school, we all thought about how to quickly establish good relationships with those international students to make them enjoy the one-week experience in Beijing. Other than the traditional Chinese methods, were there other ways to build this good connection much faster? After one week, we found that sharing and helping are very effective methods. As one professor mentioned in a previous lecture, happiness is the most effective way to influence people without authority.

Technology: Changing the Future

For me, the company visits of the program were the most representative of “Invented in China”. Both JD and Baidu deeply affected our outlooks and made us believe that “technology will change the future”.

 

At JD, we saw several generation models of drones and intelligence delivery cars. In the speech session entitled “Intelligent Logistics: JD X”, the Manager in charge of JD’s logistics introduced the “Autonomous Aerial Delivery Systems of JD". Many foreign students were amazed at JD’s delivery speed, which can promise “morning orders delivered on the same day”. And in the keynote speech of “JD Smart Supply Chain”, the department manager explained the central role played by big data analysis in JD's supply chain management.

 

On Thursday, we visited Baidu Science Park, where we saw an automated Baidu vehicle for the first time, though it was still undergoing non-stop testing. In the Baidu building, our focus fell on Xiaodu, a robot. You can communicate with the robot like Siri and even ask it to take pictures (which is of course what we did).

We learned that Baidu’s corporate culture is “Simple+Reliable" from the lecture session. We realized that it is this corporate culture that supports Baidu's continuous innovation.

 

There is no doubt that the visits to JD and Baidu both are unforgettable journeys of technological innovation for everyone.
