International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) will launch an OE Programme onGoing Out Strategy to Win in International Market.

Target participants: Managers of Chinese enterprises; Chinese enterprises aiming to leverage existing resources and capabilities to expand their business internationally.
Introduction
Despite the internal growth for Chinese company, the internationalization process is still a must for two reasons:
1. to be connected with more diverse range of consumers.
2. to act in a more competitive market.
Going out to bring back knowledge and experience help local companies to be more innovative and competitive and even stronger in the domestic market. This is also one of the key objectives of the dual circulation strategy promoted by the Chinese government. The programme is developed in cooperation with a European leading business school focusing mainly on both marketing and sales processes with a particular attention to B2B and B2G business.

Why go international when China is the only market growing?
Define strategic internationalization objectives in a dual circulation context
Identify strategic rationale of an international strategy today
Set the key performance indicators of the international strategy
For many Chinese companies the leading position in the fast growing market of the world might create the doubts of the need to look outside. The government direction, the so called dual strategy, are clearly stated that even if the priority is to support the growth of the country there is still a need to look outside especially to acquire the knowledge and the experience to be successful in the domestic market.
Therefore the international strategy for the Chinese companies has to be redefined and redesigned according to the actual situation and this session is why and how to do it.
Prof.Roberto Donà

Roberto Donà is an academic and a business practitioner with a long experience in China. He is a Professor of Practice in Management at IBSS, the business school of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, where he also serves as a director of the Master of Science in Management. He is also Honorary Professor at the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the University of Chinese Academy of Science and Adjunct Professor at MIP Politecnico di Milano Graduate School of Business. Roberto has strong international exposure having worked in Russia, Bulgaria, Argentina, USA and China. His fields of interest are on internationalisation and Innovation Processes in Asia and their managerial implications. Since the beginning of his career he worked also as management consultant for both domestic and international companies serving in several board positions. Currently, he is an Independent Director at Novena Global Healthcare Group (Singapore). He is also the First President of the Association of the Italian Scholars in China (AAIIC).

Dr. Yumiao Tian

Anna Yumiao Tian is Associate Professor in IBSS at XJTLU. Prior to this, sheworked in UK after she obtained her Ph. D with a full scholarship. Her Ph. D work was awarded Doctoral Fellowship by Northern Leadership Academy with less than 30 successful candidates across UK. She has published academic papers in a number of leading journals such as Human Resource Management, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Ethics, International Marketing Review, The international Journalof Entrepreneurship and Innovation and various international conferences. She serves as guest editor for Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, and editorial board member for International Journal of Family Business and Management, and reviewer for International Business Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business and Industrial marketing and Thunderbird International Business Review.
Anna has been working with British government and organizations such as UKTI, NECC and LEP to assist local SMEs explore and maintain business and markets widely in Europe and Asia. She has alsosuccessfully attracted around £100K research fund across UK and China. Her work of consultancy has guided a major Chinese national railway and locomotive company successfully develop subsidiaries in oversea markets. Anna has been teaching various levels of students in UK universities and took responsibility of program and course development. She served as external examiner for several UK universities and also led a European master program with Turku School of Economics, Portsdam University Business and Malta University Business School. Anna is also serving a role as Deputy Head of Division and a panel member for University Review Board.
Session 3
Foreign exchange risk management Benefits
In this course, we provide an overview of the key issues associated with understanding and managing foreign exchange risk. We start by defining foreign exchange risk, and use real-life cases to illustrate the sources of foreign exchange risk and the potential impacts on businesses, with particular reference to the current global business environment. Methods of measuring and managing foreign exchange risk are illustrated through hands-on exercises.
Prof. Stephen Gong

Prof. Stephen Gong joined International Business School Suzhou at XJTLU in 2018. Previously he taught at the University of Auckland Business School and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for over twenty years. His research covers broad areas of accounting, finance and applied economics. He has published widely in internationally leading and reputable journals in these areas. His co-edited book “Finance and Risk Management for International Logistics and the Supply Chain” was published by Elsevier in 2018. Based on his practical experience, he published a bilingual book titled “Import-Export Documentation in China” in 2003.
Stephen's current research centers around the role of the media in accounting and finance, corporate disclosure, corporate governance, corporate investment, and the Chinese economy. Other interests include FinTech, infrastructure investment and finance, logistics/supply chain management, and urban (in particular transportation and real estate) economics. In the last ten years Stephen obtained external competitive grants totaling over 2 million Hong Kong dollars (funded by the Research Grants Council of the HKSAR, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China).
Prior to joining academia Stephen had several years of industry experience both in China and overseas. He has consulted for government agencies and international organizations and provided corporate training in the areas of transport logistics and international trade. He serves on the Editorial Board of international refereed journals and reviews for numerous scientific journals and conferences.
Session 4
Effective strategy implementation in a cross-cultural world
Strategy implementation should lead to a competitive advantage and better performance. But an estimated 75% of all strategies fail to deliver. This module will wrap up the learning of this course and will assess how B2B sales and marketing strategic initiatives can effectively be implemented in a continiously increasing cross cultural world. The participants will learn tools and techniques stemming from best practice and real life case studies.
Prof. Ewout can der Schaft

Ewout van der Schaft is Professor of Practice and Associate Dean International. Previously Ewout served as Deputy Dean and IMBA Programme Director at the IBSS School of Business, and Head of Department of Industrial Design at XJTLU University.
From 2008-2013, Ewout served as Dean Executive Education at the Aegis School Business in Mumbai (India) and as Assistant Dean at the CEU Business School in Budapest (Hungary).
Before moving to Academics, Ewout obtained extensive international experience from senior business roles all around Europe. From 1995 till 2008, Ewout worked in executive positions for two leading European Telecommunication incumbents, Czech Telecom and Bulgarian Telecom. After having started in the field of Human Resources, he led the transformation of Czech Telecom and the start-up of their B2B electronic marketplace. In his last position, as Executive Director Business Development, he was responsible for partner management, strategic alliances and acquisitions. As Head of the PMO in Bulgarian Telecom, he prepared the company for their sell off by leading 24 key transformation projects. Ewout started his international career for Philip Morris in The Netherlands.
Ewout holds an MBA of the Katz Graduate school of Business Pittsburgh, and graduated as a Master of Public Administration at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.
