公司金融

In this class, students will learn how the decisions of a company affect shareholder value. To understand the perspectives of shareholders, we will study basic principles of investing: time value of money, valuation of debt and equity securities, discounted cash flow as a foundation for stock prices, the impact of diversification and leverage on portfolio risk, the relationship between risk and expected return in securities markets, and capital market efficiency. We will use these principles to analyze corporate capital investment decisions by estimating free cash flows and discounting them at the appropriate cost of capital. We will also discuss how shareholder value is affected by a firm’s financing decisions, such as the choice of using debt or equity capital.

教授簡(jiǎn)介

Richard Shockley

Associate Professor of Finance

Richard Shockley is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University (Bloomington Campus), a position he has held since 2003. He also serves as a CenterPoint Faculty Fellow (2006–present) and previously was a Ford Motor Company Teaching Fellow (2001–2006) at the same school. His academic background includes a PhD in Finance from Indiana University (1992) and a BS from the University of Virginia (1984). With extensive teaching experience, he has held roles such as Assistant Professor at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Administration (1992–1996) and Visiting Assistant Professor at Washington University in St. Louis’ Olin School of Business (2000–2001). He is a Certified Public Accountant (California) and holds memberships in honor societies like Beta Gamma Sigma and Raven Society.
