The rules of business in the digital age have changed. Widespread introduction of new digital technologies along with the rise of disruptive threats are transforming the business landscape in terms of the competition dynamics and business operations. The digital revolution has made the fundamental rules and assumptions that governed businesses in the pre-digital era obsolete. With the inevitable digital disruption, companies need to transform themselves to thrive in the digital age. Contrary to the common beliefs of firms, digital transformation is not about the technology - it is about strategy and new ways of thinking.

As managers and workers in the digital age, you would need to be competent in identifying the potential IT disruptions on their businesses and to proactively adapt your firms for such impacts. At the same time, modern-day corporate employees should have a deep understanding of the digital transformation steps needed to cope with new operating rules. With industry boundaries becoming blurred and digital disintermediation upending traditional business partnerships, companies should think of developing a platform strategy, not just product-related strategies.

The problem faced by companies is not data inadequacy, but how to sift out useful information from an overly abundance trove of data using business analytics. While most firms have capabilities in summarizing data, few have actually gained true analytics abilities that allow them to fully tap on the available data to derive deeper business insights necessary for conceptualizing innovative corporate strategies.Finally, emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence are being added o the business landscape.
