EdwardG.Krubasik,Prof.Dr.rer.nat.,MBA,studiedphysicsattheuniversitiesofErlangen-NurembergandKarlsruheinGermany.AfterobtainingadoctorateinnuclearphysicsandfollowingresearchprojectsattheStanfordLinearAcceleratorCenterinCaliforniahecompletedanMBAprogramattheEuropeanInstituteforBusinessAdministration(INSEAD)inFontainebleau,France.
Prof.KrubasikworkedaspartneranddirectoratMcKinsey&Co.,Inc.forovertwentyyears,wherehewasinchargeofMcKinsey’sglobalInnovationandTechnologyManagementPracticeandtheEuropeanElectronics,TelecommunicationsandAerospaceSector.
From1997to2006ProfessorKrubasikwasamemberoftheCorporateExecutiveCommitteeofSiemensAGwithspecialresponsibilityforthecompany’sIndustryandTransportbusinesssectorandSiemens’CorporateTechnologyDepartment.Withinthistimeperiodhewasinchargeofaseriesofturnarounds,mergersandreorganizationsaschairmanofaseriesofglobalandregionalSiemenscompanies,e.g.SiemensVDOAutomotiveAG,SiemensDematicAG,SiemensBuildingTechnologiesAG,SiemensFranceSAandSiemensBelgiumSA.OnbehalfoftheCommitteehewasresponsibleforSiemens’relationswiththeEUandrepresentedSiemensintoppositionsinnationalandinternationalindustryassociations.
Since1998hehasbeenaMemberoftheBoardofDresdnerBankandlateroftheCentralAdvisorsCouncilofCommerzbank,Frankfurt,ofStinnesAG,Essen,ofKSBAG,Frankenthal,andofCovisintCorp.,Detroit/USA.Since2007hehasbeenMemberoftheBoardandChairmanoftheStrategyCommitteeofVallourecSA,Paris,andASAHITECCorp.,Tokyo.In2008and2009hewasChairmanoftheBoardofHonselAG,Meschede,asindustrialpartnerofRHJInternational,Brussels.
From2004to2007EdwardKrubasikwasamemberoftheExecutiveCommitteeoftheGermanFederationofIndustry(BDI).HeheldthepositionofPresidentofZVEI(ElectricalIndustryAssociation)andPresidentofOrgalime,theEuropeanEngineeringIndustriesAssociation,Brussels,andwasChairmanoftheCommissionforEconomicGrowthandInnovationattheEconomicAdvisorsCouncilforGermanyandisleadingasimilarCommissionfortheEconomicCouncilinBavaria.HehasbeenamemberoftheEuropeanCommission’sHighLevelGrouponCompetitiveness,EnergyandtheEnvironmentandCo-Chairman(withCommissionerVerheugen)oftheElectraTaskforcedevelopingaEuropeanindustrysectorgrowthplan.
2014hewaselectedPresidentoftheGermanPhysicsSociety.HehasbeenhonoraryprofessorattheTechnicalUniversityofMunichsince1998,isservingasDirectorinResidenceatINSEAD,Fontainebleau,andgivingcoursesfornon-executivedirectorsthere.HeisHonorarySenatoroftheUniversityofErlangen-Nuremberg.HeisamemberoftheBoardoftheCulturalFoundationofGermanIndustriesandoftheSchoolforMusicandTheatre,Munich.
