華秀萍，現(xiàn)任諾丁漢大學(xué)商學(xué)院（中國）金融學(xué)教授與博士生導(dǎo)師、寧波諾丁漢大學(xué)-寧波保稅區(qū)區(qū)塊鏈實驗室主任、新結(jié)構(gòu)經(jīng)濟學(xué)研究中心常務(wù)副主任、普惠金融研究中心秘書長，也擔任政協(xié)第十五屆寧波市委員會委員、寧波市統(tǒng)計學(xué)會副會長、上市公司拓邦股份與東莞銀行獨立董事等社會職務(wù)。她是浙江省高等學(xué)校中青年學(xué)術(shù)帶頭人（金融學(xué)科）。她擁有北京大學(xué)法學(xué)與經(jīng)濟學(xué)雙學(xué)位，并取得英國謝菲爾德大學(xué)金融學(xué)碩士與博士學(xué)位。華秀萍教授的研究以中國與歐美金融市場為主，興趣包括金融科技、創(chuàng)新金融與普惠金融。她已在Journal of International Money and Finance、European Journal of Finance、Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance、Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting、Journal of Association for Information Systems、Economic Modeling、《經(jīng)濟研究》、《金融研究》、《經(jīng)濟學(xué)季刊》、《金融監(jiān)管研究》等學(xué)術(shù)期刊發(fā)表數(shù)十篇文章并出版專著。她獲得國內(nèi)外政府、學(xué)術(shù)機構(gòu)與金融機構(gòu)數(shù)十項研究項目資助。

講座概要：

Prior literature documents the well-known home bias effect in traditional financial markets, but only limited research evaluates the impact of financial technology (Fintech) on the home bias correction. Using 21,391 technology reward crowdfunding campaigns over 2009-2019, we examine whether home bias effect plays a significant role in this fast-growing Fintech market. Results show that, technology campaigns attracting more domestic investors have a higher probability of successful capital raising and project implementation, which confirms the persistent impact of home bias. Further investigation indicates that the home bias effect on fundingand deliverysuccess a)is stronger when a creator has a higher level of “old” social capital, namely preexisting social relations like friend and family ties, b) is weaker when a creator has a higher level of “new” social capital, namely platform social networkingcapability. Cross sectional tests also exhibit that there are heterogeneous impacts of home bias across backers’ home-country levels of financial inclusion and investor protection.
